The United States Census Bureau is an agency of the US Federal government responsible for conducting the decennial census, which is a constitutional mandate to count the population of the US every 10 years. The Census Bureau also collects, compiles, and publishes data on the demographic, social, and economic characteristics of the US population and its housing.
